Alabama men's basketball picked seventh in SEC, women 10th

Kentucky tabbed as conference favorite, Mississippi State on the women's side

The University of Alabama men's basketball team was predicted to finish seventh in the Southern Conference, with the Crimson Tide women slated for 10th in the league's media polls released Wednesday.

The polls were released in conjunction with SEC Media Days, which will conclude Thursday.

"Today was great because it shows that the season is just around the corner,” coach Avery Johnson said. “We’re less than a month away from opening night and it’s been a fun day having Herbert Jones and John Petty with me at SEC Media Day.”

The 2018-19 campaign begins November 6, with conference play set to begin January 5. The 2019 SEC Tournament will be March 13-17 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
