Defensive lineman Raekwon Davis announces he's staying at Alabama

Crimson Tide defense gets big-time return from defensive end for 2019 season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Saying he had a lot of unfinished business, University of Alabama junior defensive lineman Raekwon Davis announced that he's returning for his senior season.

He's expected to be the only returning starter as Isaiah Buggs is out of eligibility and nose tackle Quinnen Williams is expected to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Davis (6 foot 7, 316 pounds) made the announcement on Twitter.

After leading the Crimson Tide in sacks with 8.5 in 2017, and was named first-team All-SEC by the coaches, Davis was expected to have a big junior season only the numbers weren't quite what a lot of people envisioned.

He had 55 tackles, including 5.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks, to go with six quarterback pressures. He was named second-team All-SEC by The Associated Press.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs announced earlier Wednesday that he was returning as well, while outside linebackers Terrell Lewis and Chris Allen will both be coming off ACL injuries.
