TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama freshman defensive lineman Stephon Wynn Jr. was injured during Tuesday’s practice an will miss some time due to what Coach Nick Saban described as a ligament strain.
“It’s not a surgical-type injury,” Saban said. “We hate to lose anyone. We need all the help we can get and all the depth [we can get], especially in the front seven.”
Saban was vague on how long he might be out. Alabama only has nine defensive linemen in camp.
The news was much better for the Crimson Tide regarding Josh Jacobs. Although the junior running back has appeared to be limited during individual drills, when reporters are allowed to observe, Saban said he’s been full-go for all team drills and is off to a good start.
Jacobs had 46 carries for 284 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per carry, and had one touchdown last season.
Saban added that the team has had a lot of ‘heavy install’ so far in camp. The team’s first scrimmage is set for Saturday.
