Linebacker Eyabi Anoma reverses direction, pulls name from NCAA transfer portal

Former 5-star prospect to remain with the Crimson Tide after talking with Nick Saban

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama's biggest roster news on National Signing Day may have been that it won't lose last year's top prospect.

A day after putting his name in the NCAA transfer portal, linebacker Eyabi Anoma reversed direction and removed it Wednesday after talking with Nick Saban.

Nick Saban updated his status when being interviewed by ESPN during its signing day coverage.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound edge rusher tallied nine tackles, including two for a loss, and a quarterback hurry while earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors from the league’s coaches.

A year ago, Anoma was rated as as the No. 4 prospect in the nation by the 247Sports composite, No. 8 by ESPN and No. 24 by Rivals.
