One of the advantages of getting an early commitment from a touted quarterback prospect is that he becomes one of your best recruiters.
Grant Gunnell of St. Pius X High School in Houston is doing what he can to elevate the first full recruiting class of the Kevin Sumlin era. He would love to get wide receiver Jaylen Ellis of Cedar Ridge High in Round Rock, Texas, on board.
Ellis, who is looking around following his commitment to Baylor, announced Thursday on Twitter that he would be taking an official visit to Arizona next week when the Wildcats take on USC.
Ellis also took an official visit to Michigan earlier this month.
Gunnell wouldn't mind doubling-up on "Jaylens/Jalens" as he hopes to bring teammate Jalen Curry to Arizona. Curry is a four-star wide receiver (No. 154 nationally) who wouldn't mind leaving the state. According to 247Sports, Curry has visited Auburn and Tennessee, with a trip to Penn State set for next week.
He caught 121 passes for 1,570 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, which shows the connection he has with Gunnell.
Gunnell, after passing for more than 4,900 yards as a sophomore and junior, has completed 74 of 110 passes for 1,246 yards, with 13 touchdowns and no interceptions, in three games this season.
