Five on Friday: Top Arizona football players from Houston

Big Earl.Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Perhaps this list will change in a few years

With Arizona playing at Houston on Friday -- and Kevin Sumlin's early recruiting centerpiece being quarterback Grant Gunnell from St. Pius X High School in Houston -- I rank the top five football-playing Wildcats from Houston in the Pac-10/12 era.

1) Earl Mitchell, fullback/defensive tackle (2006-09)

Arizona hasn't had a first- or second-team all-conference defensive tackle since his senior year. Ouch.

2) Clarence Farmer, running back (2000-2003)

If his last two seasons were like his first two seasons, he'd be No. 1 on this list.

3) Michael Jolivette, cornerback (2000-2003)

Career: 12 interceptions, program-best 44 PBUs.

4) Bruce Wiggins, center (1997-2000)

You don't think Trung Canidate got all those yards by himself?

5) Lionel Dotson, defensive tackle (2004-07)

Second-team All-Pac-10 as a senior; probably underappreciated at the time.

No. 1-1

Great stuff AG.
