His show -- "Eye On the Ball" -- will air from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, following the venerable Bill Buckmaster Show that focuses on news and politics. The station, under new ownership, is launching a new lineup with more local talk.
Rivera, the former longtime Arizona Wildcats basketball beat writer for the Tucson Citizen -- hey, we even wrote a book together -- is promising a great lineup of guests with the focus on UA athletics and other local sports.
"I'm looking forward to the fun and banter," Rivera said. "At least I'm hoping for the banter. I plan on reminiscing with the guests and talking off the day's top news. ... I just hope it'll be fun."
Scheduled as guests for the first day are:
--Hall of Fame horse trainer Bob Baffert from Louisville and the Breeder's Cup at 1:20 p.m.)
--Former UA basketball player Jawann McClellan at 1:34 p.m.
--Pima men's basketball coach Brian Peabody talking about going into the season as the No. 1 team in the country at 1:48 p.m.
--From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in studio former radio host Mike "Gabe" Gabrielson. He and Rivera will be talking media today and reminiscing about the big stories of the past two/three decades at UA.
