Baylor dominated the first half and then stiff armed Kansas for the third and fourth quarters to post a 26-7 victory over the Jawhawks to start Big 12 play on Saturday at McLane Stadium.
Bears quarterback Charlie Brewer took control of the offense as he passed for 221 yards and 3 touchdowns, and added 56 rushing yards. He was convincing enough to keep Jalan McClendon on the sideline.
But the big story was Baylor's defense holding Kansas to one score and fewer than 300 total yards.
Well the game was never really in doubt. But Kansas did win the second half 7-3. Baylor essentially did to Kansas what Duke did to the Bears a week ago — dominate the first half and put it in cruise control in the second half.
One thing that might concern Baylor fans going forward were the Bears' 13 penalties for 140 yards.
