We enter the second-to-last week of the Pac-12 regular season and our ability to make winning picks remains more predictable than the performance of the league’s teams.
That is, except for two of them. No teams have been as consistent Washington and Cal, who will collide Thursday night at Haas Pavilion.
The Huskies are aiming for a Pac-12 title. The Bears are dying for a victory.
Last week: Jeff 8-4, Jake 7-5
Season: Jeff 63-24, Jake 58-29
Arizona (16-12, 7-8) at Oregon State (17-9, 9-5), 6 p.m. (FS1)
Jake: Arizona has shown life recently and handled the Beavers earlier in the season. But Oregon State is tough to beat in Corvallis. Pick: Oregon State
Jeff: The Beavers have lost 13 of their past 14 games against Arizona, but the Wildcats haven’t won a road game since beating Cal back on Jan. 12. Does that count? Pick: Oregon State
Washington State (11-16, 4-10) at Stanford (14-13, 7-8), 6 p.m. (Pac-12 Network)
Jake: The Cardinal limited WSU’s Robert Franks to 12 points earlier this season. That won’t happen again. Pick: Washington State
Jeff: Could the Cougars be looking ahead to Cal? Maybe, but Stanford is thinking this is the game this week it can win. Pick: Stanford
USC (15-13, 8-7) at UCLA (15-13, 8-7), 6 p.m. (ESPN)
Jake: If Jaylen Hands stays hot, Bruins will roll. That is a big “if” though. Pick: UCLA
Jeff: USC has lost four of its past six games. UCLA tried to lose twice last week, but Jaylen Hands wouldn’t let it happen. The Bruins staged a pair of unlikely comebacks to sweep the Oregon schools at home. Pick: UCLA
Washington (22-5, 13-1) at Cal (5-22, 0-15), 8 p.m. (FS1)
Jake: This is the only game on this card that is easy to pick. The best team vs. the worst team. Pick: Washington
Jeff: Cal doesn't turn the ball over much — it’s one of the few things this team does well. UW’s very disruptive Matisse Thybulle could change that. Pick: Washington
Arizona State (19-8, 10-5) at Oregon (15-12, 6-8), 8 p.m. (Pac-12 Network)
Jake: It’s difficult to trust the Sun Devils, but they have been more consistent lately. Pick: Arizona State
Jeff: ASU has lost the past five times it played at Oregon. Here is what matters more: The Sun Devils are second in the Pac-12 standings and Oregon, the league’s preseason favorite, sits in 10th. Pick: Arizona State
