CAL STORYLINES: After a few near misses in recent weeks, the Bears are coming off an 89-66 thumping at the hands of USC last Saturday at Berkeley. That extended their losing streak to 14 games overall and 20 regular-season Pac-12 games. … Cal is 0-8 on the road this season and has dropped its past 14 conference games away from home. … Sophomore forward Justice Sueing leads the Bears in scoring at 15.0 points per game and is averaging 17.1 over the past 10 games. … Freshman center Connor Vanover is averaging 12.4 points over the past five games. … The Bears are looking for a better performance from point guard Paris Austin (11.7 points, 4.5 assists), who shot 5 for 18 and had six turnovers in losses to UCLA and USC last week.
ARIZONA STORYLINES: The Wildcats have lost seven straight games for the first time since the 1982-83, the year before Lute Olson arrived in Tucson to create a national powerhouse. … During its losing streak, Arizona is shooting just 37 percent while its opponents are converting nearly 52 percent. … Sophomore guard Brandon Randolph leads the Cats in scoring at 13.4 points per game, but over the past 12 games is scoring just 10.2 points on 30-percent shooting, including 23 percent from the 3-point arc. … Arizona will be without freshman guard Brandon Williams (12.0 points) for the sixth straight game due to a right knee injury. … Center Chase Jeter had 23 points and 9 rebounds in the first Cal game. … Arizona is 92-7 at home since the start of the 2013-14 season, but four of those defeats have come this season.
