Guard Max Hazzard reportedly will transfer to Arizona

Well, a graduate transfer who was considering moving to Cal will head to another Pac-12 school instead.

Max Hazzard, who was the leading scorer for a UC Irvine team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this year, has decided to transfer to Arizona, according to a tweet by Jon Rothstein.

Hazzard was one of two players in the transfer portal who reportedly were considering transferring to Cal.

Hazzard, a grandson of Walt Hazzard, averaged 12.5 points and made 93 three-pointers for the Big West champion Anteaters. He scored 19 points and hit 5 of 11 three-point attempts in the Anteaters’ upset of fourth-seeded Kansas State in the first round of this year's NCAA Tournament. He had just seven points in the second-round loss to Oregon.

Hazzard joins an Arizona team that will also welcome the No. 1-rated recruiting class in the country.

After a disappointing 2018-19 season, the Wildcats are primed to return to national prominence despite troubling offcourt issues.
