Cal Basketball Video: Why Graduate Transfer Kareem South Chose Berkeley

Toronto-born guard played the past four years at Texas A&M Corpus Christi

Kareem South is one of six newcomers on the Cal basketball team.

He's the only one who is not a freshman.

A graduate transfer from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, South earned his undergrad degree in bio-medicine while also averaging 13.8 points last season. During his career at Corpus Christi, South scored more than 1,100 points.

With one season of eligibility remaining, he chose Cal over Vanderbilt and Northwestern, two other elite academic schools that play in high-major conferences.

South explains in the video above why he picked the Bears over the Commodores and Wildcats and what his initial impressions of Berkeley have been.
