Cal did a lot of things well in its 76-73 win over No. 25 Washington on Thursday night.
They passed the ball -- a season-high 22 turnovers.
They rebounded -- beating the Huskies 29-26 on the boards.
They defended -- holding the Huskies to 29 second-half points after allowing 44 in the first half.
But the key to ending a 16-game losing streak that spanned 69 long days was more than a matter of Xs and Os, according to coach Wyking Jones.
He said the love his players showed for each other throughout the drought -- and especially in the days leading to Thursday night's victory, defined their unwillingness to give up on one another.
