Cal Basketball Video: Wyking Jones - `We Took A Step Back'

Bears were totally unable to defend USC's 3-point game and were never competitive in this one

Cal coach Wyking Jones said he stopped practice Friday during a segment where the Bears were supposed to be focusing on defending the 3-point shot.

He told his players if they duplicated their lackluster effort a day later, they'd lose by 30 points.

The final score was USC 89, Cal 66, but the Trojans were up by as many as 31 points on Saturday at Haas Pavilion.

And Cal's inability to locate 3-point shooters was the key issue. USC made 19 of 31 from beyond the arc, and senior Bennie Boatwright hit 10 threes to set a school record and tie the Pac-12 single-game mark.
