Cal guard suffered a knee injury in the previous game, but is cleared to practice

No. 13 Cal received some good news regarding guard Asha Thomas.

Thomas has been cleared to resume practice and can participate as much as her knee can tolerate the work. Head coach Lindsay Gottlieb made the announcement on Wednesday.

Thomas had to be carried off the court after injuring her knee in Sunday's victory over Cal State Northridge, and that made it appear that she might be sidelined for an extended period. But tests and imaging revealed no acute injury.

Thomas is a senior in her fourth year as a starter, and she is a vital part of the team. She is third on the team in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game, and leads the team in assists by a wide margin with 31.

The Golden Bears (7-0) will be back in action on Saturday, visiting Saint Mary’s (5-2) for a 2 p.m. tip off in Moraga.
