Cal Football: Guess Which Bowl Seems Most Likely For Golden Bears?

Those projecting Sunday's bowl pairings believe Cal is headed to Tempe to play in the Cheez-It Bowl

Sure, we all would love to see Cal square off against Fresno State and former Bears coach Jeff Tedford. In Vegas, no less.

How fun would that be?

But as we await the bowl matchup announcements on Sunday, it’s looking less likely that will happen. Expect the official announcement sometime around 12:15 p.m.

Those projecting the bowl lineup generally are not giving Washington State enough love to find a place among the New Year’s Six games. If the Cougars are left out of the Jan. 1 lineup, that pushes every other Pac-12 team below the down one spot, squeezing Cal out of Vegas.

Instead, it seems it would be the Dec. 26 Cheez-It Bowl in Tempe, Ariz.

In the interests of full disclosure, I love Cheez-Its. By far my favorite cracker/snack/borderline major food group consumable.

Anyway, here’s what we’re seeing late on the eve of Sunday’s bowl announcements:

Jerry Palm, CBS Sports: Cal vs. Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl

ESPN: Kyle Bonagura says Cal vs. Baylor & Mitch Shermen predicts Cal vs. Boise State, both in the Cheez-It Bowl

USA Today: Cal vs. Baylor in the Cheez-It Bowl

SB Nation: Cal vs. Baylor in the Cheez-It Bowl

Soon, we’ll know for sure.
