Cal ace Jared Horn has not lost a game since March 16 and has won his last two starts, both against teams in the 64-team postseason field. He will be a major part of the Bears' postseason push.
Horn (6-1, 1.82 ERA) is expected to be Cal's starting pitcher against TCU on Friday (4 p.m. Pacific time) in the Bears' first game of the Arkansas Regional. The matchup of Horn against TCU's Nick Lodolo is rated the top opening-game pitching matchup of the postseason by D1 Baseball.
Horn's catcher, Korey Lee, has seen virtually all of Horn's performances from the best vantage point, and he has been impressed.
"His velo (velocity) is always there, his command is there, in all of his pitches," Lee said in the video above.
Asked how much of Cal's postseason berth can be attributable to Horn, Lee said, "A hundred percent. When you have a workhorse like that on the mound you really can't ask for more than that honestly. He's wanted to go complete games, he's a rubber arm and he's ready to compete for everything."
