So many elite athletes are one-trick ponies. Top tennis players and swimmers often never find the time to try other sports, focusing solely on the game they chose.
Not Cal's Collin Morikawa. The Bears' senior Pac-12 champion grew up playing baseball and basketball, and still enjoys those rare moments when he can step away from golf to play with his buddies.
His family enjoyed snow skiing outings but that was one sport Morikawa has pushed to the sidelines, at least for now, because of its potential for serious injury.
Morikawa will be back in his primary element beginning May 13, when the Golden Bears compete in the NCAA regionals at Myrtle Beach, S.C., with hopes of qualifying for the collegiate nationals.
