Cal won its semifinal game against Saint Mary's by scoring a try in the closing seconds to complete a 28-24 win. Will that thrilling victory have any influence on the bears' play against Life in the national championship game on Saturday at Santa Clara's Stevens' Stadium?
Cal head coach Jack Clark notes that the initial reaction after last Saturday's dramatic win was one of relief.
"Postgame you're relieved to advance," Clark said. "I think going into the game we knew it was going to be a close game -- win by a little, lose by a little. We were happy to have the ball at the end of the game.
Clark suggests there probably will not be any carry-over.
"It's a pretty professional team in that sense," he said. "There are lessons there that we'll have to take into next week. We're going to have to play better.
"I think the team's happy for another opportunity to play."
