Another electric east coast athlete on his way to Ann Arbor

Newest commit Eamonn Dennis a perfect fit in “Speed in Space” offense

St. John’s (Worcester, MA) three-star ATH Eamonn Dennis announced his commitment to Michigan on Monday afternoon.

The No. 4 player in the state per the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Dennis was among the prospects taking their official visits to Ann Arbor last weekend.

While he plays both ways for St. John’s, Michigan has been focused on playing the speedster on offense.

A perfect fit for Josh Gattis’ “Speed in Space” scheme, Dennis spoke to The Michigan Insider about the team’s plans for him.

“(Gattis) wants me in the slot position, and as a running back in the backfield, too. He wants to move me around, bounce me around, like an all-purpose back type of player.”

Impressing with a 4.52 forty and 40-inch vertical at The Opening Regional, Dennis has rocketed up the recruiting rankings in recent months.

Built in the same mold as guys like Percy Harvin and Curtis Samuel, he can impact both the running and passing games, as well as the return game.

Pledging to the Wolverines over Syracuse and Duke, Don Brown was able to close the deal with another East Coast target. Since joining the staff in 2016, Brown has been instrumental in Michigan football’s success recruiting the New England region.

Dennis’ relationship with freshman receiver Mike Sainristil also played a role in his decision.

He told Steve Lorenz, “I train down in Everett (Sainristil’s hometown) sometimes, and Mikey and I talk. He was telling me about the recruiting process. He was teaching me about it.”

The commitment of Dennis has pushed Michigan’s 2020 class into the top-ten nationally and No. 2 in the Big Ten.

As mentioned in my last post for Wolverine Maven, recruiting director Matt Dudek has hinted at a few more commits being on their way, too.
