Big Ten Power Ratings & Top 25 -- Week 5

Bone-headed coaching by James Franklin led to a costly and crushing loss for Penn State.

Big Ten Power Ratings

1) OHIO STATE

Overcame a 12-point deficit in the toughest of environments to establish itself as clearly the class of the conference.

2) PENN STATE

James Franklin, whatcha doin? Losing the Big Ten East Division title, that's what.

3) WISCONSIN

Still has tough road games at Michigan, Purdue and Penn State.

4) MICHIGAN

Michigan's toughest opponent this season has been the man in the mirror.

5) IOWA

Has scored 20 points or less in eight of its last 12 games against power five conference foes.

6) MARYLAND

Your guess is as good as mine which Terps team shows up each week.

7) MICHIGAN STATE

L.J. Scott hasn't played past two games, and still is the team's leading rusher with just 103 yards. And now leading receiver Cody White is out with a broken hand.

8) PURDUE

Don't look now, but Boilermakers are a win at awful Illinois away from getting back to .500 after that 0-3 start.

9) INDIANA

Hoosiers failed to cover as the biggest road favorite they've been since 1990.

10) NORTHWESTERN

Now 1-3, and still has games remaining with Sparty, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Iowa.

11) MINNESOTA

Perhaps no team in the conference has been hit harder by injuries.

12) NEBRASKA

0-4 for the first time in school history. Ouch.

13) ILLINOIS

Will they win another game?

14) RUTGERS

Props for covering the spread.
