ESPN: Michigan playoff bound in 2019

ESPN's analytics are high on the 2019 Wolverines.

ESPN's predictive analytics, otherwise known as FPI, is out with its first odds to make the 2019 college football playoff. And it has Michigan with the third best odds to make the field, which would be the first time the Wolverines have done so.

Michigan knocked on the playoff door in 2016 and 2018, but Ohio State prevented the Wolverines from kicking it open both times. However, this time FPI believe Michigan is overwhelmingly the most likely Big Ten team to make it. Here's FPI's preseason top 15 based on its odds to make the playoff:

  1. Clemson 83%

  2. Alabama 71%

  3. Michigan 41%

  4. Georgia 40%

  5. Oklahoma 35%

  6. LSU 32%

  7. Notre Dame 28%

  8. Oregon 14%

  9. Florida 10%

  10. Penn State 8%

  11. Auburn 7%

  12. Ohio State 6%

  13. Michigan State 5%

  14. Texas A&M, Washington 4%
