Harbaugh highlights from first presser of spring football

The most noteworthy news from the first press conference of the 2019 season.

The big news, Jim Harbaugh was adamant new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis will indeed call the plays. But then he added this:

Typical of this time of year, several key upperclassmen are being held out for injuries.

On the quarterback pecking order:

Among the early enrollees, with Zach Charbonnet still recovering from a knee injury, it's tight end Erick All that has caught Harbaugh's attention so far.

Harbaugh says his long-time friendship with former defensive line coach Greg Mattison is put on hold until he's done coaching for the Buckeyes.

With the new offense going to more of a spread, expect to see Ben Mason play more on defense this season.

Harbaugh said Josh Ross seems poised to take the next step at linebacker, and then said a former top recruit is starting to emerge at the position as well.

This transfer was already accounted for in our 2019 roster projections.
