Top storylines:

Maryland’s season has been quite weird thus far. It started with the administrative leave of coach D.J. Durkin following the death of Jordan McNair at a Maryland practice. Durkin has been absent ever since.

All things considered, Maryland’s first four games have been a pretty big success. The team is coming off a 4-8 season and once the Durkin scandal started to unfold, it was largely assumed this would be a tough season for the Terrapins. That hasn’t exactly been the case.

In Week 1 Maryland pulled off the upset against Texas, a team that is now ranked No. 19. They followed that up with a 45-14 win against Bowling Green State. The only major disappointment of the season was a 35-14 defeat at the hands of Temple. However, the Terrapins bounced back in Week 4 against Minnesota with a 42-13 win.

Last season, the major issue for Maryland was their quarterback play. The Terrapins had five different quarterbacks in 2017.

This year the guy at quarterback has clearly been Kasim Hill. Hill has thrown for 556 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT and completed 55.3 percent of his passes.

The strength of the Maryland team is their ability to run the ball. They are No. 10 in the nation with 258.5 rush yards per game. They have three different running backs who are very capable of carrying the ball. Ty Johnson has 300 rush yards and 2 TDs, Anthony McFarland has 291 rush yards and 2 TDs and Tayon Fleet-Davis has 191 yards and 3 TDs.

Their leading receiver is Taivon Jacobs with 132 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, their leading tacklers are Tre Watson with 39 tackles and Isaiah Davis with 32.
