Welcome to Wolverine Digest/Maven

We welcome you to the birth of a site devoted to covering our beloved Michigan Wolverines!

Welcome to the debut of Wolverine Digest, otherwise known as Wolverine Maven. The new Michigan sports site for The Maven network, perhaps the largest and most diverse network of content providers youll find anywhere online.

However, our focus here is squarely on our beloved Meeechigan Wolverines. Michael Spath, host of "Inside the Huddle" on WTKA in Ann Arbor, a 18-year veteran covering the Maize and Blue, and myself have joined together to form a site whose focus prioritizes analysis from the critically-thinking fans point of view. Meaning, while we love our Wolverines, we wont sugarcoat things. Well do our best to point out what the truth actually is best as we see it, rather than what we would prefer it to be through maize-colored glasses.

We won't be critical for the sake of creating controversy, though. We call it like we see it. Praise when warranted, criticize when warranted.

Were also not necessarily a place for breaking news. Sites like The Wolverineand The Michigan Insider, both of which Michael has worked at before and Ive subscribed (and continue to) for over a decade, already have that ground covered.

Rather, our focus will be on analysis, reaction, and projection of what the days news, as it relates to the Wolverines, means now, and could mean in the future.

So dont be surprised if you regularly see references to other Michigan media entities on this site. Michael and I each believe strongly in attribution, thus when were analyzing news reported elsewhere well be giving them credit.

That doesnt mean well never break news here, because Michael is on the air locally in Ann Arbor each weekday with his ear to the ground. But we believe we excel at analysis and opinion, and theres a growing segment within the fan base that has an appetite for keeping it real, as the kids say today. And those of you within this segment of the fanbase are our target audience so spread the word - a site for you has arrived.

Now that youre here, if you decide youd like more information about each of us, consider the following:
