MICHIGAN STATE SPARTAN TOM IZZO GETS 1ST 20 COMMIT IN FLINT MI PG JALEN TERRY

As Michigan State continues preparation for its Final Four game against Texas Tech on Saturday, the Spartans received even more good news when head coach Tom Izzo and company picked up a commitment from one of the top players in the state of Michigan for the 2020 class.

Flint Beecher 4-star point guard Jalen Terry tweeted his commitment late Tuesday night announcing his choice of the Spartans over a number of other programs that had extended offers to him so far in his recruitment. Terry is the first commitment for Michigan State in the 2020 class.

Terry, an explosive, 5-foot-11 floor general also fielded offers from Louisville, Iowa State, DePaul, Butler, Mississippi State, Iowa and Missouri, but ultimately chose the Spartans after trimming his list down to five schools back in December.

Widely regarded as a 4-star recruit, Terry is rated as the No. 31 recruit and the No. 5 point guard in the country according to 247 Sports, while Rivals has Terry checking in at the No. 45 prospect in the nation.

The news of Terry’s decision comes on the heels of Michigan State’s upset win over Duke, the No. 1 overall seed, in the Elite Eight, clinching the Spartans’ eighth Final Four berth under Izzo.

Terry is the second commitment for the Spartans over the course of the past month as Dallas (TX) Jesuit 2019 3-star power forward announced his commitment to Michigan State back on March 10th.
