20 MI TE JACKSON MALCOLM TALKS MICHIGAN STATE SPARTAN FOOTBALL RECRUITING!
Jackson Malcolm, a 20 TE from Almont, MI. talks to Spartan Nation about what he needs to do to get the opportunity to play football at the next level. The 6’4” 210# tight end is excited for his senior year of high school and going to college.
This summer he is spending time at school working on different aspects of his growing and maturing into a college football player. Before college comes growth, strength, and speed.
“I think I see it too. I work with the track coach pretty closely, and I think I got a little faster working on my sporting technique and my running technique. I’ve been hitting the weight rooms pretty hard. The weight room is open for 2 hours in the morning, so I go there and try to get as strong as I can.”
Not only is he working on the physical growth needed to go on to play at a higher level of football, but he is also working on different football techniques being from a Wing T offense.
“Our coach, a couple of receivers and our quarterback have been working pretty close to try to create more of a spread type like offense.”
He continued to talk about his extra work this summer, “I’ve been working with my quarterback a little bit to learn some of our offense, our routes, and stuff, and I’ve been learning a lot from all of the camps I’ve been going to. Coaches have all been teaching me really good things, like how to get off of linebackers who are pressuring me, I think that has benefited me.”
Jackson had the opportunity to visit Michigan State this summer.
“I was on campus; I believe it was June 15th, at the MSU elite camp. I think I did pretty good. I talked to Coach Staten at the end, and he agreed I believe, and you know we talked a little bit since then.”
He has also been talking with coaches from Toledo, Ball State, and Eastern Michigan. All are looking forward to receiving film from Jackson from his first four games. Jackson realizes just how important those games will be.
“I believe they will be huge. Coaches want and have asked for the first four games on film.”
Growing up in Michigan opens many doors to favorite teams. Jackson talks about how he grew up.
“So, I grew up a wolverine because my dad liked Michigan so that just rubbed off on me. However, my mom went to Michigan State, all of her cousins went to Michigan State, my grandpa went to Michigan State, I have a couple of aunts and uncles that went to Michigan State so that bloodline runs deep.”
He continued to express how it would feel to put on the green and white, “That would mean a lot to me like I said my bloodline, that would be cool to represent it like that.”
