Although it’s very early in the recruiting process for Clearwater (FL) Calvary Christian 2021 defensive back Makkah Jordan, his recruitment is already picking up and has received interest from #15 Michigan State recently.

Jordan recently spoke with Spartan Nation about the interest he’s received from Michigan State, and the 5-foot-10, 150-pound standout said that he’s excited to be hearing from a program like Michigan State at such an early stage of his recruitment.

“It’s a blessing, especially since I’m a freshman,” he said. “No other freshman are out here doing that, so it’s a blessing, a real blessing.”

While Michigan State cannot speak with Jordan because he is only a freshman in high school, Michigan State assistant defensive backs coach Jesse Johnson stopped by Calvary Christian to speak with Jordan’s coaches.

“It was just amazing,” Jordan said of learning of Michigan State’s interest in him. “I was amazed, I’d never think that.”

“It means a lot to me, it means the world,” Jordan added. “Everybody doesn’t get this opportunity.”

Playing as a freshman on the varsity team for his high school Jordan recorded five interceptions and two fumble recoveries and his season was good enough to earn him a spot in the Football University Freshman All-American Bowl game in December, where Jordan registered an interception and five tackles.

“That game is for the top 70 in the country, the best freshman in the world,” he said. “You get to go out there and compete with the best and I held my own.”

Even though Jordan is from the state of Florida, he admitted that he wouldn’t be opposed to heading north and playing for a Big Ten program if he felt it was the right opportunity for him.

“It doesn’t matter to me, whoever comes first,” he said. “It’s just as good as the SEC.”

After learning of Michigan State’s interest in him, Jordan admitted that he did some research on the Spartans and added that he was impressed with the support he received on social media from Spartan fans.

“It looks like a great community,” he said. “It’s pretty energetic, everybody on Twitter was sending me ‘Go Green’, so it’s good.”
