Spartans in the NFL- Week 4
Spartan rookie Greg Jones starred at middle linebacker for the Giants, recording three tackles and three assists in his teamâ€™s 31-27 victory. Devin Thomas returned four kicks for the Giants for 103 yards, with the longest return being 36 yards.
The combined efforts of Jet-Spartans Eric Smith, Plaxico Burress, and Derrick Mason were not enough to overcome Brandon McKinney and the Ravens, as the Jets fell to Baltimore, 34-17. Smith had a great game at safety, racking up two tackles, two assists, a quarterback hit, a pass defensed, and half a sack. Mason and Burress both started at wide receiver. Mason caught two passes for 37 yards, and Burress reeled in three balls for 33 yards. Fellow alum Brandon McKinney played at defensive tackle for Baltimore but did not record any stats.
Titansâ€™ running back Javon Ringer rushed four times for four yards in his squadâ€™s dominating 31-13 win over the Browns.
Domata Peko and Kyle Cook helped the Bengals hand the Bills their first loss of the season in a 23-20 contest. Peko started at defensive tackle, notching one tackle, five assists, and a tackle for loss on the day. Cook started at center for Cincinnati.
Tight end Kellen Davis started for the Bears, but recorded no stats, in Chicagoâ€™s 34-29 win over the Panthers.
Brian Hoyer did not see any action at quarterback as the Patriots defeated the Raiders 31-19.
Broncosâ€™defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson had one tackle and one assist in the teamâ€™s 49-23 loss at the hands of the undefeated Packers.
Drew Stanton was not active for the Lionsâ€™ stunning come-from-behind triumph over the Cowboys, 34-30.
The Chargersâ€™ defense, along with defensive tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo, were able to force punter Brandon Fields onto the field enough for San Diego to win, 26-16. Nwagbuo had one tackle and one tackle for loss in the contest. Fields booted three punts for an average of 45 yards.
The Colts lost their fourth straight game of the season, this time against the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football by the score of 24-17. Defensive back Chris Rucker had a busy night, with four tackles and a pass defensed in the game. Blair White returned two punts but gained no yards.
