CHARLIE OTLEWSKI OF HASLETT HONORED AS LIONS HIGH SCHOOL COACH OF THE WEEK

ALLEN PARK, MICH. - The Detroit Lions have named Charlie Otlewski of Haslett as the week six winner of the High School Coach of the Week Award for the 2006 season.

Otlewski led Haslett to a 45-15 victory over Fowlerville on Friday (Sept. 29) to improve to 5-1 on the season. The Vikings are currently ranked No. 10 (Division 3) in the state by the Detroit Free Press.

Otlewski is in his 13th season as head coach at Haslett where he has never had a losing season after taking over a program that had gone three straight seasons with a 2-7 record. He has guided the Vikings to eight straight playoff appearances including two state runner-ups (1998, 2005). Prior to his move to Haslett, he coached for four seasons at St. Ignace and was a graduate assistant at Central Michigan University for two seasons. His overall career record as a head coach stands at 124-44.

This week Haslett will host Williamston (3-3).
