ESPN's College Gameday returns to Eugene this weekend

College Gameday is back for No. 20 Oregon vs. No. 9 Stanford

Its official!

After rumors started swirling one week ago, ESPNs famed College Gameday announced this evening that they will be in Eugene ahead of No. 20 Oregons matchup with No. 9 Stanford

The game is by far the biggest matchup in week 4 of college football, one of two games currently featuring two nationally-ranked teams. Not only does this game have Pac-12 North implications, it has serious national ones as well.

The winner will be considered the front runner for the Pac-12 Championship and a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.

Oregon (3-0) enters the matchup undefeated with wins over Bowling Green, Portland State and San Jose State. Nobody knows what kind of team the Ducks are considering their non-conference portion of the schedule was among the worst in the nation. But, the Ducks do boast one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Justin Herbert and a stout run defense.

Likewise, Stanford (3-0) is undefeated with convincing victories over San Diego State, USC and UC Davis. Star running back Bryce Love didnt play this past week against UC Davis but is expected to be back for Oregon.

Lee Corso, one of the hosts of College Gameday, was very complimentary of Eugene when talking with Mark Heim of AL.com.

"My favorite is Oregon. I enjoy being with the Duck when I go out there, Corso said. The show is on at 6 a.m. in the morning that means they are there all night. The students are there waiting for the show they have a great football program. Great atmosphere."

Oregon has hosted College Gameday nine times, most recently back in 2014 when the Ducks were ranked No. 3 and No. 7 Michigan State came to town. Marcus Mariota led the Ducks to a 46-27 win that eventually helped propel him to the Heisman trophy.

Overall, the Ducks have been on College Gameday 22 times and boast a 14-8 record.
