Oregon has its biggest game of the season against hated-rival Washington on Saturday.
But before the Ducks kick off against the Huskies, they received good news all the way from the state of Kentucky.
On Thursday, 4-star linebacker Jared Casey announced his verbal commitment to Oregon via Twitter.
Casey was a huge get for the Ducks, adding to an already stacked incoming linebacker-class that includes Mase Funa, Ge’Mon Eaford, Treven Ma-ae and Isaac Townsend. With Oregon losing linebackers Justin Hollins and Kaulana Apelu to graduation and possibly Troy Dye to the NFL, Casey could see action as a freshman.
Casey — from Loiusville’s Ballard high school — is Oregon’s 22nd commit of the 2019 class. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker was the No. 6 recruit in the state of Kentucky and No. 17 inside linebacker in the nation.
According to 247sports, Casey was recently bumped to a four-star recruit after a great offseason and even better start to his senior season of high school.
Casey is a versatile linebacker who could see time at either inside or outside linebacker for the Ducks. He had Kentucky, Louisville and Wisconsin in his final four but after visiting Oregon for the Stanford game on October 13, Casey was hooked on the culture of the Ducks.
