Where does Texas stand with elite QB Miller Moss?

The Longhorns are hoping to land one of the best quarterbacks from the 2021 class

Recruiting elite players is always a bit of a double-edged sword. When you are recruiting out-of-state elite players that sword has even sharper edges.

The University of Texas has recently reached out west to try and sway blue-chip 2021 blue-chip quarterback Miller Moss to pledge his services to the Burnt Orange.

Moss, of Mission Hills, Calif., is the No. 9 quarterback in the 2021 class according to 247 sports and the No. 13 overall player in the state.

While Texas has made a short list of teams Moss is interested in, the rest of the programs on that docket reads like a murder's row of recruiting opponents. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan and in-state Cal are all in play at this point.

However, Texas seems to stand out in the early going of what could be a heated summer recruiting battle. Moss has glowing words to say about the UT program recently via The Spun.

“That relationship is just getting started,” Moss said. “What I’m super optimistic about is Texas is a school I’d consider even if football wasn’t involved. That’s a huge thing for me when I’m looking at different schools. Just from an academic standpoint it’s a super important thing for me and my family. Any school that can provide top one percent in football and academics is super huge for me.”

The site also reports that Moss is planning a whirlwind visit to the Lone Star state that will include stops at Texas, Texas A&M and TCU. It could be a chance for the Longhorns to make their case and add a cornerstone commit to the fledgling 2021 class.
