With the win, the 13th-ranked Red Raiders improved to 8-0 on the season. That marks the first time Texas Tech has won its first eight games since the 2009-10 campaign.
Sophomore guard Davide Moretti was off to a hot start making a quick 3-pointer, grabbing a steal and scoring on a fast-break layup to put the Red Raiders ahead early, 7-3, with 17:30 left in the first period.

Even though Texas Tech was 3-of-15 from beyond the arc, the Red Raider offense started heating up with 11 minutes left in the game when Matt Mooney had 2 assists to Tariq Owens, who made back-to-back one-handed dunks and put the Red Raiders ahead 53-31.
“We played against zone for 40 minutes tonight,” Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard said. “We got the ball in the middle some, we got to the free throw line at times, we just got to hit shots. On nights when you don’t hit shots, you’ve got to manufacture offense out of offensive rebounds, and I thought we could’ve done a lot better job on the glass. I give Pine Bluff a lot of credit – they slowed the game down with zone.”
Texas Tech ended the game with 16 offensive rebounds and 13 turnovers. Mooney finished with 11 points and 5 assists, while Odiase secured 6 rebounds and 5 points.
The Red Raiders will continue nonconference play at home in the USA with a game against Northwestern State at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12.
