Texas Tech vs. Baylor football headed back to campus

The Red Raiders' and Bears' 10-year run in DFW will end this fall.

The Big 12 released its 2019 football schedule on Thursday, creating a buzz among Texas Tech and Baylor fans and media.

The Red Raiders and Bears will return to campus next year, ending a 10-year run of neutral-site games in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Texas Tech and Baylor met at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in 2009, then played in the Cotton Bowl in 2010, followed by eight-straight years back at AT&T Stadium, including this season’s contest scheduled for November 24.

Next year, Texas Tech will travel to make its debut in Baylor’s McLane Stadium, which opened in 2014. The following season, the Bears will head out to Lubbock, where they haven’t won since 1990.

Texas Tech and Baylor fir st met in 1929 and have engaged in a streaky series ever since. Baylor won 11 straight from 1947 to 1960. But the Red Raiders have the series lead, 38-37-1, thanks to a 15-game winning streak from 1996 to 2010.

Baylor has a 5-3 edge in games played at AT&T Stadium.

Next year’s game will be played on October 12 in Waco.
