Houston Lamar CB committed to Texas Tech in early July.

Alex Hogan became the 13th commitment of the 2019 recruiting class for Texas Tech. Hogan, a speedy corner, is the 68th ranked cornerback in the state of Texas according to Rivals. Other programs who were lobbying for Hogan included Colorado, Illinois, and Iowa State.

In addition to playing defensive back, Hogan has the ability to be a dynamic kick returner for the Red Raiders. In 2017, The Raiders ranked 94th in the nation in average yards per punt return. Since the departure of Keke Coutee, the Raiders are still searching for stability in the return game. Hogan could potentially be the missing piece too sure up the return game for the next four years.

In recent years, Lamar has been a hotbed for football talent. Current NFL players Brandon LaFell and Josh Gordon are alums. The Red Raiders are also establishing themselves at the Houston school as freshman running back Ta’Zhawn Henry and graduate transfer John Bonney are graduates. Hogan looks to be the next Lamar Texan make an impact in a Red Raider jersey.
