A Jersey Guy's Picks: Week 13

The goal for anyone picking games against the odds is to finish above. 500, which presumably means you are making money with your picks if you bet efficiently.

Well, for followers of TMG's Pick 3 frolics this season, an above .500 season is within reach if we can hold on for the final full week of the regular season. We continue to dabble with mediocrity, going 3-3 again last week.

Our buddy The Locksmith is staggering home as well. He went 0-2 a week ago.

So let's see what we have on rivalry weekend.

The Picks

A Jersey Guy

USF getting 11 vs. UCF--First stop on way to a spot in the Peach Bowl for one of these teams? Maybe. We were hot on USF early, then backed off after they lost to Houston earlier this year. We will take a chance on the Bulls pulling off the upset as well as getting the points

USF 38, UCF 35

Duke getting 12 vs. WAKE FOREST---A pair of surprise ACC teams. Wake is bowl eligible. Duke needs one more. They might get it, although winning on the road will be tough for the Dukies, who have more to play for than Wake.

Duke 28, Wake Forest 24

Alabama giving 4 vs. AUBURN--Winner wins the SEC West and gains a front row seat to the College Football playoffs if it can beat Georgia next week, something Auburn has already done. More doubters than ever before about Alabama. But we still believe in St. Nick to win a big game.

Alabama 23, Auburn 16

Over/Under

Texas Tech vs. Texas O/U 54 Over

Duke vs. WAKE FOREST O/U 48 Over

Notre Dame vs. STANFORD O/U 57 Under

Last week: 3-3

Season to Date: 37-32-4

Ohio State over MICHIGAN, giving 12

As much as it defies convention to give this many points to the home team in a rivalry game, it's hard to see Michigan, with its quarterback issues and coach Jim Harbaugh's inability to win games that matter, being anything more than the Buckeyes' latest victim on the way to the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State's experience at quarterback, with fifth-year senior J.T. Barrett, coming off two great outings, its running back tandem of T.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber and the renewed energy on defense mean Ohio State wins this going away. Buckeyes have dominated this series lately and Harbaugh has underachieved in year three in Ann Arbor. Nothing changes here.

New Mexico-SAN DIEGO STATE

Over/Under 48

OVER

Aztecs, vying for a third-straight 11-win campaign (this plus a bowl would do it), will do all they can to get Rashaad Penny one more Heisman moment, though it will be tough to top last week's 212-yard rushing performance that included a 100-yard kickoff return, a punt return for a score and four total touchdowns. San Diego State's offense looks as if it has hit its stride the past two weeks, combining for 94 points over that time, while the Lobos look as if they've packed it in. In five of their past seven games they've allowed 38 points or more, which has led to a six-game losing streak and disappointing 3-8 record.
