Jersey Guy's Picks: Week 4

Went 1-2, but we move forward with some marquee names: Notre Dame vs. Duke , Florida State vs. South Florida and Michigan vs. Penn State[membership level="0"] The rest of this article is available to subscribers only - to become a subscriber click here.[/membership] [membership]

The Game: Michigan giving 18.5 vs. PENN STATE

The Pick: Michigan 42, Penn State 14

The Comment: Michigan struggled all afternoon vs. Colorado but still won comfortably. The Wolverines hit the road against the Nittany Lions, who can't stop anybody. Michigan's defense should bounce back.

The Game: NOTRE DAME giving 20.5 vs. Duke

The Pick: Notre Dame 45, Duke 14

The Comment: Notre Dame's defense is horrible, Duke's offensive is anemic. Notre Dame's offense can score against anyone. Wake Forest scored 24 on Duke. Irish need style points as well as real points.

The Game: Florida State giving 5 vs. SOUTH FLORIDA

The Pick: Florida State 45, South Florida 21

The Comment: Everybody is jumping off the FSU bus after a 63-20 loss to Louisville. The Seminoles are still a good team and USF is still trying to prove itself.

Record last week: 1-2

Record to Date: 5-4

The LOCK-Smith

UTAH over USC, giving 3

More panic for the Men of Troy with the switch to redshirt freshman Sam Darnold at quarterback, replacing Max Browne, who gets benched for being ineffective against Alabama and Stanford -- two of the better teams in the country. Nothing makes sense for USC these days, so this is a logical move in light of everything going on: Throw the youngster in against a defense coming off a 10-sack performance. Utes have been very good defensively but erratic on offense, in large part due to turnover problems (nine in three games). QB Troy Williams has shown himself to be capable when he isn't throwing to the other team, too. Home field advantage and a superior defense get the job done for Utah.
