Chris Dufresne

Chris Dufresne, formerly the national college football and basketball columnist at the Los Angeles Times, was overtaken several years ago by an alter ego named Rankman who put college teams in their places. Since starting at the Times on the loading docks at age 18, he has chronicled the defunct United States Football League, NFL, major league baseball, multiple golf majors, a Summer Olympics and six straight Winter Olympic games, from Lillehammer to Sochi. Dufresne has earned several Associated Press Sports Editor (APSE) awards, won two first-place Los Angeles Press Club awards and was named 2011 California Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) now known as the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). He also served as President of the Football Writers Association of America, in 2013, and earned FWAA’s “Beat Writer of the Year” honors for 2015. He looks forward to unleashing Rankman on yet another college football season at TMGcollegesports.com.
