Wyoming football has made an early statement of it's continued emphasis on recruiting Colorado high school players.
Tight end Nick Miles, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end from Chaparral High School in Parker, became the third verbal committment for the Cowboys Class of 2020 on Sunday -- all three from Colorado.
Miles joined defensive ends Brand Siders from Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, and Cameron Smith of Legend High School In Parker in making the early nod to become Cowboys.
Siders is from the same high school as Dewey Wingard, a three-time first-team free safety for the Cowboys who signed a non-drafted free agent deal with Jacksonville this summer, and Miles is an alum of the same high school as former Cowboys basketball guard Josh Adams.
"Extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Wyoming!," Miles posted on his twitter account. "Thank you so much to all my family, coaches and friends for supporting me along this journey! I can't wait to be a Cowboys!!! @wyo_football @CoachCBohl @WyoCoach Coop #Ride for the Brand"
Miles, who also plays high school lacrosse, appeared in seven games for Chapparal last fall, catching 13 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown."
Siders was the first public commitment for the Cowboys Class of 2020. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defensive end announced his decision the Sunday afternoon his weekend visit to Laramie.
"It felt like a business at other schools, but at Wyoming it was family," Siders said of his interaction with the staffs at various schools.
Siders was a second team Class 5A All-Star selection as a junior when he had 67 tackles, seven for a loss, three quarterback sacks, an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery and block field goal.
"I knew if (Wyoming) offered I would commit," he said. "That was the only school I wanted to go to."
Smith said his attention to Wyoming began as a freshman in high school when he attended his first Wyoming football camp.
"I always loved it up there," Smith said. "It feels like family."
Smith played defensive end and tight end in high school, but is ticketed for defensive end at Wyoming.
