Forward Austin Mueller tore the ACL in his right leg during practice, and is sidelined. He was on the bench for Wednesday's game against South Carolina, but wearing a brace on the leg.
While redshirt freshman Hunter Thgompson has returned from the concussion syndrome that sidelined him for three games, making his second start in a row on Wednesday.
Jordan Naughton, however, is out until at least the start of conference season with a knee injury suffered in the Cowboys exhibition game. And Hunter Maldonado remains on a day-to-day basis with ongoing back problems. He was in the lineup on Wednesday.
Those injuries, along with the decision of Lwal Dung to leave after less than a semester and return to Australia has left coach Allen Edwards and his staff scrambling at times with an inexperienced roster. The Cowboys have six freshmen on their roster -- Thompson and five true freshman -- along with two junior college transfers. With Naughton, a senior, and Mueller, a sophomore, sidelined, the Cowboys have only two seniors (Nye Redding and Justin ames), and one sophomore (Maldanado) on the active roster.
